Seco Winance, a legend of Christian music, believes that generational faith is “important to the body of Christ.”
“(Jesus) finished it on the cross – the availability of salvation – but he will continue to use us and our children and our children to win the world over him,” Winans said in a recent conversation with CBN News. “That’s very important.”
To parents who are now raising children, Winans has encouraged moms and dads to teach the Bible to “take time” with their children and pray for them.
Winnans, 60, referred to Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NLT).
And you must sincerely commit yourself to these commands I am giving you today. Repeat with your child over and over again. Talk about them when you are at home, when you are on the road, when you sleep, and when you are awake.
In fact, looking back on her and her husband Alvin Love’s own parenting journey, Winans says, “There’s a ‘one thing’ she did differently, which involves the Holy Spirit even more closely in the life of her family.
“If I had the opportunity to go back and raise my child again, what I would do differently is to invite the Holy Spirit at every moment,” she said.
A 17-time Grammy Award winner, God has a specific “call” to his children.
“Only the Holy Spirit knows all the details about the child, so I will invite him before you make a decision,” she explained. “Let them see you pray – “Lord, give him wisdom as to what to do about this.” …Invite him more so that they can become accustomed to obey the Holy Spirit. ”
Winans also speaks the truth of love about the importance of boldness in our current day and age, regardless of cost.
“(i) Tell the young people: be bold now. Don’t wait until you’re old,” she said. “When you see the world, they are bold. They are embarrassed about what they believe, and not fighting them or criticizing them, they are just those who God called us.
The older she gets, the Winans said, thanking her parents, “who was standing for Jesus.”
“They didn’t just teach us the word. They lived it before us,” she said. “I am not the self I am today and I am not strong in my faith. I am not without that family foundation, if they don’t let us go to church, even if we don’t want to.”
“My parents respected God in our home,” continued the singer “It’s My King.” He said it was important to carry the same atmosphere as grown in the church community. “So I was able to be bold. I wasn’t confused about what Holiness looked like. It helped me with peer pressure. …It prepares your child to be the one who called them without an apology.”
