Armed civilians helped to prevent what became one of the worst mass shootings in American history.
On Sunday in Wayne, Michigan, 31, Brian Anthony Browning, 31, appears to have been determined to inflict a massive casualty within the church, as he was so armed with Crosspoint Community Church.
Then, in a Tuesday interview with Detroit’s WXYZ-TV, Trombley brought harsh truths to people who frequently soft target.
“You’re your own first responder,” Trombly said in a clip posted on social media platform X.

Before the same clip, the hero praised God to save many lives.
“Evil came to our door,” Trombley said. “But God’s hand for protection was above us.”
“So many things have happened, and God has only been pushed to me,” he continued. “The parishioners appeared late to hire him slowly to hire him along with the pickup truck. The double-pane window stopped five rounds to see where I was standing, the wall behind me, the influence, and the round round spot from the rifle.
Meanwhile, in another clip from the same interview (also posted on X), Trombley gave a lengthy explanation of how the incident unfolded.
The hero was inside the church when he thought he had heard something “mechanical” outside. But the young woman who escaped the threat said, “AR-15.”
Trombly then went to the lobby door and said, “I started to assess the situation, tried to understand the person on the ground, and it looked like there was a pickup truck there, there was some damage and I heard it sounded like an automatic rifle fire (what).”
In other words, by the time Trombly reaches the scene, the heroic pickup driver has already hit Browning on the ground.

Still, the danger remained.
“He fired a little more on our building,” Trombley said at the moment. “By God’s grace, he missed me. He attacked another with his calves. And then I got him engaged and cared for the threat to the church.”
According to WXYZ-TV, the man shot with a calf was Ron Aman, who has been attending church since the 1960s. One of the bullets crushed Aman’s tibia.
Incredibly, Aman and two other safety team members were in training just three days before filming.

“When we formed this team, I knew it was my calling to protect my family and this church’s family,” Aman said of the decision he and several other church members made about a decade ago to form a safety team.
In short, when danger appears, ordinary citizens like Trombley and Aman must act as their first counterparts.
And they did. In fact, I could hardly imagine a more fascinating example of heroism and God’s God’s providence than what unfolded on Sunday at Crosspoint Community Church.
