Pastor Greg Laurie recently explained why he believes it is essential for Christians to protect Jews.

“Everything we’ve been given has come through God’s chosen people, the Jews,” Laurie said. “(God) made a covenant with Abraham and his descendants in Genesis 12, saying, ‘I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you.'”
The pastor pointed out that modern Israel is a controversial topic in some quarters, with critics saying that God’s promises do not apply to modern nations.
Lowry rejected this idea, saying the promise continues and explaining how 1948 and Israel’s reappearance on the map are consistent with Biblical truth.
“It happened right after what was called the Holocaust,” Ms. Rowley said. “And I think a lot of young people don’t know that, because when you look at the big picture of six million Jewish men, women and children being murdered in Nazi concentration camps, extermination camps, as part of Hitler’s so-called Final Solution, it’s really just that horrific event that happened very recently.”
The Harvest Crusade founder said that anti-Semitism sometimes begins subtly and over time “develops into Jew-hatred.”
“And it leads to actual harm to Jews,” he said. “I think we’re getting past subtle anti-Semitism. People seem to want to blame Jews and the state of Israel for everything that’s going wrong in the world today.”
“And, look, the modern state of Israel is not a perfect nation, just like the United States. But that being said, I believe that they are the homeland of the Jewish people and that their presence here is a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. And on May 14, 1948, the prophetic clock struck.”
He went on to denounce so-called “replacement theology,” noting that it exists in many churches today. Lowry described this theology as one that declares that “God is finished with the Jews and all their promises are transferred to the church.”
Lowry pointed out that Romans 9-11 show that God has a plan for the Jewish people in the future, and that Gentiles (non-Jews) are “grafted into the promises of God made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
At the end of the day, Lowery said, while there are important factors to consider in the Bible, Christians want Jews and everyone else to accept Christ.
“We also recognize that God has established a covenant…and we are thankful that He does not break His promises,” Laurie said. “There is a rise in anti-Semitism in our country right now, and I believe it is evil and that as Christians we should speak up for our Jewish friends.”
Rowley made the comments ahead of the latest terrorist attack on Jews in Australia, a deadly attack last month that left at least 15 people dead and scores injured.
