Power must be with Gina Carano.
Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Company settled with former “Mandalorian” stars who sued two studios last year after being fired in 2021 for “daring to speak up on their opinions” on social media.
“I hope this brings some healing to the Force,” Carano wrote in a statement posted to X, thanking entrepreneur Elon Musk for funding an illegal dismissal lawsuit against the entertainment giant.
More than that, the former Disney star refers to the Lord and his grace for the outcome of her lawsuit, and she writes that she is “humble and grateful to God for his love and grace in this outcome.”
I have signed a deal with Disney/lucasfilm @disney @lucasfilm. I think this is the best result for all involved. I hope this will bring some healing to the strength.
I want to extend my deepest sincere gratitude to Elon Musk, @elonmusk, the man I’ve never met,… https://t.co/qiax7w1vgf

“I look forward to flipping the page and moving on to the next chapter,” she added. “My desires remain in the art. It hopes you will join me.”
The 43-year-old celebrities who played the character Carla Dune in the “Star Wars” spin-off series used social media platforms to express their conservative ideals, opposed Covid-related lockdowns, Black Life Matter riots and transgender ideology.
Disney eventually expelled Karano. In a statement released at the time, the company accused her of “defying people based on their cultural and religious identity.” The former MMA star was also dropped by her casting agency, UTA.

In 2024, Karano sued Disney and Lucasfilm for punitive damages arising from illegal dismissal and discrimination. Disney attempted to dismiss the lawsuit, claiming that the brand had the first right to reconcile it from Karano and her views. Carano responded to Disney and claimed that the Burbank-based brand revealed that it would “dismiss you if you say you don’t agree” employees who are in trouble and those who “have inaccurate, malignant, or false characteristics.”
Disney is singing from another songbook now.
In a unique statement after the settlement was reached, Carano said he was “always well respected” by his colleagues, vowing to work with the stars again “in the near future.”
“The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm have announced that they have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issue of pending litigation against the company,” read Disney’s statement. “Carano has always been well respected by the director, co-stars and staff, and worked hard to complete the craft, treating his colleagues with kindness and respect.
After the news of the settlement broke, Carano wrote to X: “(a) The truth will free you.”
