The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a letter on March 5, 2026 inviting all to participate in the upcoming general conference.
The letter, signed by President Dallin H. Oaks and his counselors President Henry B. Eyring and President D. Todd Christofferson, says the conference will give individuals an opportunity to receive answers to their prayers.
“General conference provides an opportunity for personal revelation as the general leaders of the Church provide counsel and direction from the Lord. We invite all to listen, study, ponder, and apply the counsel given.”
The 196th Annual General Meeting of the Church will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 4th and 5th, 2026. That Sunday is Easter Sunday.
This conference will be the first opportunity for lay members to simultaneously sustain President Oaks as President of the Church following the passing of President Russell M. Nelson on September 27, 2025. President Oaks presided over the October 2025 general conference as a senior member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He was announced as the new President of the Church on October 14, 2025.
Following the announcement that the Saturday night session will be discontinued in November 2025, the conference will run two sessions each day.
The letter of the First Presidency should be read in each sacrament meeting of the Church prior to general conference.
The conference will be held at the conference center, even though the center will be closed to the public from March 30, 2026 to March 1, 2027. The building will be used for several major events during the closure period in preparation for the Salt Lake Temple open house celebration scheduled to begin in April 2027.
