The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a letter on March 5, 2026 inviting all to participate in the upcoming general conference.

The letter, signed by President Dallin H. Oaks and his counselors President Henry B. Eyring and President D. Todd Christofferson, says the conference will give individuals an opportunity to receive answers to their prayers.

“General conference provides an opportunity for personal revelation as the general leaders of the Church provide counsel and direction from the Lord. We invite all to listen, study, ponder, and apply the counsel given.”

The 196th Annual General Meeting of the Church will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 4th and 5th, 2026. That Sunday is Easter Sunday.

This conference will be the first opportunity for lay members to simultaneously sustain President Oaks as President of the Church following the passing of President Russell M. Nelson on September 27, 2025. President Oaks presided over the October 2025 general conference as a senior member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He was announced as the new President of the Church on October 14, 2025.

Following the announcement that the Saturday night session will be discontinued in November 2025, the conference will run two sessions each day.

The letter of the First Presidency should be read in each sacrament meeting of the Church prior to general conference.

The conference will be held at the conference center, even though the center will be closed to the public from March 30, 2026 to March 1, 2027. The building will be used for several major events during the closure period in preparation for the Salt Lake Temple open house celebration scheduled to begin in April 2027.

First Presidency Letter

Dear brothers and sisters:

We are pleased to announce that the 196th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be held over Easter weekend. The First Presidency, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other General Authorities and general officers of the Church share the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

General sessions open to all individuals, families and friends will be held on Saturday, April 4th and Easter Sunday, April 5th.

General conference provides an opportunity for the general leaders of the Church to give counsel and direction from the Lord and receive personal revelation. We invite all to listen, study, ponder, and apply the counsel given.

Sincerely,

First Presidency

Dallin H. Oaks

Henry B. Eyring

D. Todd Christofferson

As has been customary in recent years, each conference session is scheduled to last two hours. It starts at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM Mountain Daylight Time (UTC 1600 and 2000) on both Saturday and Sunday.

“Music & the Spoken Word” will be broadcast for 30 minutes during Sunday morning sessions at 9:30 a.m. MDT (1530 UTC).

The conference will be broadcast live with interpretation in more than 60 languages. Additional languages will be available as recordings in the weeks following the conference.

General conference will be available to watch on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, the church’s YouTube channel, and local television stations around the world. Check local listings for specific times and availability.
