Christy Shamblin, her daughter-in-law, Commander of Marines. Nicole Zee was one of 13 American service members killed in the ISIS-K terrorist attacks during the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021, saying the Trump administration’s recent detention of the terrorist leader was “bittersweet.”
“It was shocking,” she said she learned that ISIS-K follower Mohammad Sharifullah, who was in court on Wednesday, had been arrested for roles in a fatal attack. “Bitsweet words are always my favorite words because they are difficult.”
Shamblin continued. “I’m here. I saw Nicole celebrate the death of the death and the 12 people who died with her. It’s very difficult.”
Shamblin and her family continue to experience pain as they navigate Gee’s loss, but she also said the Trump administration is “so encouraging,” saying it is “so encouraging,” as it is “concerned, … focused on it and trying to get results.”
Shamblin is a critic of the Biden administration’s voice, and in previous interviews claim that there was virtually no communication between her family and officials after the fatal terrorist attacks.
In contrast, she said the Trump administration is in regular contact.
“That’s the difference between daytime and daytime,” she said. “The Biden-Harris administration never reached out to our families. …Their administration as a whole has been busy covering up the fact that Biden was not competent, taking all the focus from everything it takes to protect Americans and protect our military and our interests.”
Shamblin believes the Trump administration is working to give them “full transparency,” and she and others are allowed to ask difficult questions.
She said Sharifler’s arrest, which Trump announced to the world during his speech before a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night, was known to her family several hours ago.
“We got a call Tuesday afternoon, and it was from the White House situation room,” Shamblin said. “And we waited a little while with (in charge) Michael Waltz and Dr. Sebastian Gorka until the president came to the line.
She said Trump spoke directly to his family and provided information about his involvement in helping Pakistan catch Sharihula. The White House wanted to know about its families before it was widely announced.
“I really believe (Trump) cares about all Americans, and we’re lucky to have a glimpse into that,” she said of her interaction with the family commander. “He thanked us for our support and then he just fell into business.”

Ultimately, Shamblin, who praised Trump’s approach, said her goal was to prevent other families from experiencing the pain and loss she and her family faced.
Shamblin, who works to provide advice to the administration on how to stop future scenarios like what happened with Abbey Gate, has sought a specific prayer for her family.
“Pray for peace,” she said. “We need to create an entirely new life that we don’t want to create. We were previously happy with our lives, but we have to create a new life, and it’s very difficult to do that.”
According to the BBC, Sharifullah has been accused of supporting the Kabul bombing scheme, and the US Department of Justice accusing him of providing support and resources to foreign terrorist organizations.
