With spending this year at a record high and anecdotal evidence of a surge in interest in spiritualism this fall, one former psychic-turned-Christian warns of how easy it is to open the “devil’s door” to the paranormal.
Jen Nizza received her first tarot card reading at just 13 years old when her mother hosted a tarot card reading party. It was shortly after that that Nizza started doing fortune telling in earnest.
“And that immediately opens the devil’s door,” she said on a recent episode of CBN’s “Faith in Culture.” “Then I started looking for it myself. I was really intrigued.”
Nitza’s first foray into divination was not the result of any overt desire to engage with dark supernatural forces. Instead, she thought it would be “fun” to not be rooted in any belief system.
“I was raised Catholic, but I had no relationship with the Lord Jesus,” she said. “I mean, I didn’t have any spiritual beliefs, but my belief in what this was was just that it was fun and interesting and intriguing and I wanted to be a part of it.”

It wasn’t until she was 37 years old that God finally took control of her life and led Niza away from those dark spiritual practices.

Ultimately, she said, despite falsely believing she was helping people, she overcame the “very heavy demonic oppression” of years of fortune-telling and experienced “her own final moment.”
“The crowd of demons surrounding me was intense,” Nizza recalled. “And, of course, I didn’t know what it was. I didn’t know how to make sense of it. And in that moment, I cried out the name of Jesus Christ, the Jesus whom I had never served or cared about or believed in or had any relationship with…And then a peace came over me, and it overwhelmed me. And in that moment, I knew something had happened, but I didn’t quite understand what it was.”
Over the next 10 months, God drew her to Himself, and Nizza, now 37, completely surrendered her life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, she said.
Niza now says she is grateful that God has kept her in the world of divination for so long because it has enabled her to “be glorified” through her testimony.
“God has led me into the world of ministry, and now He is using all of my knowledge and experiences in the dark to serve His Kingdom and educate, warn, and expose the very practices I was engaged in: occult, New Age, and witchcraft.”
“People will see Christ in our miraculous witness,” Nizza continued. “Now that I’ve been in ministry since 2020, God is using every moment. I don’t just know what I’m talking about off the top of my head. I’ve been doing that kind of thing for years, so I have experience. God is using it now.”
