The Democratic National Committee is once again igniting rage after one of its members argued that the modern political doctrine of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is the very principle that the Church of Jesus Christ was built upon.
At the DNC’s annual summer meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota, former Tennessee Sen. Bill Owen told the resolution committee: He then went further and reminded my Republican friends and fellow citizens who have publicly declared themselves as active Christians that Day is the very foundation of the Christian Church.”

As reported in the Christian Post, Owen became emotional while defending the solution, even citing the children’s Sunday School chorus. “Jesus loves all the children in the world. Red and yellow, black and white.” The resolution in support of Dei was unanimously passed.
But such statements fly in the face of both history and the Bible. The Christian Church was not based on political ideology, but as the apostle Paul wrote, it is based on Christ himself. Jesus declared, “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18).

Evaluating Day with the foundation stone of the Church is replacing Jesus with artificial philosophy. This is something the Bible warns.
The DNC has a long track record of distanceing from the truth of the Bible. In 2012, the party removed all mentions of God and Jerusalem from its official platform, prompting the booing of its representatives when a vote was made to restore the language. By openly rejecting God and his covenant city, the party opposed his words. And the Bible reveals that there is no central basis: “Those who are not with me are against me” (Matt 12:30).

Owen attempts to rebuke conservative Christians for opposing Day, but the Bible teaches that the truth is not determined by political resolution or general applause. Isaiah 5:20 says, “It is miserable to those who call evil and good evil, and to those who place darkness for light, and light for darkness.”
For decades, the DNC has supported policies that directly oppose God’s design for life, family and morality. Then, recalling and evoking Jesus’ name to justify their agenda is the very definition of hypocrisy.

God is not a respected political or political party. Only he sets the standard of righteousness, and his words do not flex to human ideology. When political parties are consistently opposed to their own ways, attempts to lecture Christians about what the Church should support is an insult to both God and his people.
