Disney’s live-action “Snow White” spent a sleepy opening weekend, bringing just $43 million to the film, which costs $209 million. Megachurch leader Greg Laurie has a theory about his boring debut.
Laurie, founder of the Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, explained in a recently posted video that the original “Snow White” (and released as an animated film in 1937) first published by the Brothers Grimm in 1812 is a “moral f-talk” shaking of biblical similarities.
The preacher said that the 19th century story was “on good and evil,” and that “a vain queen who is obsessed with her beauty and status is willing to kill an innocent girl to remain the most fair in the land.”

“A familiar sound?” asked Laurie rhetorically. “It’s basically about the story we read in the Bible, Lucifer, and Lucifer, who was once a high-ranking, powerful angel. The problem with Lucifer is that he was in love with his image.
One of the most famous pastors of the Calvary Chapel movement in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Laurie focused his criticism on some of the Snow White stories, which were reconsidered for a remake of just 1930s animated classics. Mainly he had problems with the elimination of “One Day My Prince Comes” – a pivotal song in the film’s original score, and the shift in the character, which was named after his reliance on the knights of shining armor, from his dependence on independence.
In the original f story, Snow White said, “He was resurrected from a death-like sleep that was saved by the prince.”
Instead of singing “One day My Prince Comes,” “Snow White” star Rachel Zegler will perform his new song “Waiting a Wish.” Laurie explains “women’s empowerment and self-satisfaction.
He goes on to say Disney has “lost the points” of the story, saying, “Disney will sink $270 million into this film and hope that audiences will embrace this new vision of “Snow White.” Time will tell you what it will be. ”
Much of the film’s rage comes from Zegler, who denounced the original animated film as “outdated” and spoke about variety in 2022. At another point, she called the film’s general storyline “strange.”
Although not widely reported, Zegler actually told Variety that her character “dreams to be the leader who told her that she could if she was fearless, fair, brave, and true.”
He has a minor personality, but Snow White’s Father, the Good King, can be seen as an all-talk of Jesus. After receiving a “real kiss of love,” when she is drawn out of her deep sleep, Snow White becomes the representative of her father and is able to confront the evil queen with her powers that have soaked into her.
