Prayer to welcome a new baby’s home
by: Amanda Idlman
Bible reading: “Behold, children are inheritance from the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like the arrows in the hands of warriors, children of young men. Those blessed are those who fill his trembling!” – Psalm 127:3-5

Welcoming a new life into this world is a very beautiful and humble privilege for parents and families. All men have been deliberately woven together together for purpose by their creator. No one was wrong. Each child is a gift with a special story to tell.
I remember my first special day with each precious baby. A lot of time was spent staring at this little creature and fully adored that it was now mine to shepherd, hold and care. I have never been more convinced that life is a miraculous gift than when I witnessed a new life into this world.
As your family grows, there is a sense of perfection, holiness, and holiness of beginnings. The honor of gratitude and honor weighs together the first special new moments. As parents, we need to remember the sense of privilege we feel first and the urgency that is placed in our hearts to train our children in the Lord’s way.
Our children are inheritance and rewards from the Lord! We are blessed to know them, love them, pray for them, and enjoy them. Even in the most difficult moments shared, we know that God intends to be a blessing that brings joy and support to our family for life. When you embrace that baby, even during those challenging sleepless nights, be encouraged that this child is your inheritance!
Prayer is one of our best tools as parents. God tells us that he promises to empower us for all good work with His Holy Spirit, as we ask, look for and knock. We need God’s Spirit to be alive and more active than anything else. The spirit of God is more valuable than a parenting book, a podcast, or a baby gadget.
When we feel pissed we need to make him whisper patience in our hearts. We need him to give us peace when we are so afraid of everything that could be wrong for the children of this world. When we feel short as parents, we need his comfort and grace. We need his protection as we tow and navigate this world in another precious life. He needs his wisdom, including sleep training ideas, schooling options, and even arranging a wedding someday. We need God’s power to be with us through every crazy time and stage of this wild parenting ride.
When you make a new beginning, remember that the journey is long and involves many unexpected challenges, so you are not tired of doing good (Galatians 6:9). Don’t forget that you are always on the same team as your kids, and God loves you more than you can imagine. He will be with you through everything he hasn’t come yet.
Let’s pray:
Father, we thank our children for being a blessing from the Lord! Each new life is a sacred gift, and as parents we are given great honor as a shepherd. Empower us as we walk together on this long path of life. Remind us of your truth, your love, and your strength. Give us peace while we raise our families. Remember you love your family and they are part of your good plan for us. Protects this child, keeps him safe and healthy. Give us everything we need to love them well. Show us your way and tell us your way while we proceed on this parent-child journey. Amen.
