Prayer for healing from trauma
by: Amanda Idlman
Bible reading: “But he was wounded in our sins, and he was crushed for our iniquity. The punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we were healed.” – Isaiah 53:5
Read or listen to the following:
The world we live in is a place where we have collapsed and collapsed. Now that sin has entered our world, we no longer enjoy the peace and tranquility of Eden. Many of us roam with wounds, both large and small, due to evil that is very common among humanity.
Our trauma can affect our lives in so many profound and difficult ways. Our brains are shaped by the sum of our experiences. Our bodies embrace the stress and pain of living in a world that has escaped God’s glory. This can be a heavy burden for humanity to hold. We are sad because we know that things aren’t.
By grace, there is hope past our pain. God will not revoke what has been done to us, but he can redeem and remake our stories for our glory. He can heal our broken pieces at the hands of others’ sin. People have greater power than sin in very common.
God’s grace covers us as we reach for it. We must invite him to a cracked, broken place. We must embrace shame and accept the free gift of healing and salvation. His wisdom guides us towards the places and people we need to heal. His love for us provides an opportunity to love ourselves once again. It was his wounds that we were healed.
His presence is the best gift that Jesus gives us when we handle the ways in which life is not supposed to be. As children of God, we are never alone. We may walk through the valley of the shadows of death, but we are fearless as more power than death walks with us.
He can bring dead things back to life in this world. Salvation is rebirth. It realizes God’s creation within us, and cleans up what we want to hinder us and lock us in.
You are no longer defined by what happened to you. You are the Son of God. was chosen. redemption. It is loved. Covered with the blood of Christ. free. whole. new. beautiful. Righteous.
You are him.
Let’s pray:
Father, I thank you for your precious healing blood. Thank you for humble yourself by experiencing the trauma, difficulties and losses that all humans endure here on this fallen Earth. We are so grateful to you that there is greater hope than our pain. You are stronger than sin or death. With your stripes we will be healed. We ask that you heal us. Please renew our dead parts again. Bring the right people into our lives that encourage us and support us. With you, remind us every day that we are free from the power of sin. You have called us chosen and loved, and we are yours. Let’s walk through the reality that our soul enemies want to push us forward. You are the truth and we believe that you will grasp that truth and you will free us. Amen.
