Prayer to Understand Love is Indomitable
By Chris Aite
Bible Reading:
“Love puts me like the seal of your arm, as the seal of your heart. It burns like a powerful flame, as a fire. – Song of Song 8:6
Read or listen to the following:
Looking out over the sea bay from where I live is land on the horizon. It appears depending on the light, night, or day, but in many cases fog is hidden from view. It actually marks the frontier in the county in another country where my father is buried. He died 20 years ago at the time of writing, but seeing slugs in the far countryside and thinking that his father is there is a strange temptation. But in reality, he’s not there at all! “The spirit gives life; the flesh is for nothing!” Jesus once said (John 6:63a).
Still, our visit to the cemetery where his body is buried is a somber memory of all of us being able to feel the severity of loss when those who once spoke, laughed and spent time were no longer there. I took my kids to meet my father’s grave last summer, but nothing was to see the grass, gravestones, photographs, flower arrangements, and grass.
Do you have the power that people know? Who can grab the laughed silence of death, make it brutal and subjugate it to life? That’s impossible, absolutely impossible.
However, history records that there was a man once nailed to the cross, bleeding over the forest, causing his life to surrender to the power of darkness. “He has given up his life for us, and he will perceive God’s love here…” (1 John 3:16a).
The love of Jesus Christ is both our sorrow and the balm for the conqueror for the terrible evil conqueror who caused the pain of death in the first place. The Bible tells us that he has dealt a death blow to itself. We have not seen the outcome yet, but it is prophesied that judgment awaits Satan, and our beloved end of illusions will be crushed forever.
And this is the purity of love given to us by God who never gives up. It’s indomitable. Tell it to your situation: unyielding. Tell it lonely. Tell it to failure and guilt. Uneven. Say the words deep in mourning for your loved one. Tell it to your fruitful obstacles. Say it to the whirlwind of memories that bothers you day and night.
Uneven! God’s love for you is indomitable. Say it to the false idea that you are defeated and hopeless. Say it to your illness diagnosis and fear of the future. Say it to the colour of death that ruins the outline, gaps and depth of your existence. There is hope beyond the cemetery. One day, the grave is no longer there. Uneven!
Abyss does not exist before Jesus. His love is jealous of us, and he will not give up on his children. He holds us tightly.
Let’s pray:
Heavenly Father, in this precious moment, I will give to you my soul and other parts of myself. Your love for me is truly indomitable! Satan wants me to despair, but I will be free if I do not. You released me and called me yourself. I feel at ease. I now promise to share your love by helping others. In the name of Jesus. Amen!
