Spy Surveillance Prayer on Wednesday

Bible Reading:
“Then one of the twelve people called Judas Iscariot went to the Chief Priest and said, “If I bring him to you, what will you give me?” And they paid him 30 pieces of silver. – Matthew 26:14-16
Read or listen to the following:
Wednesday of Holy Week is known as “Spy Wednesday” as Judas Iscariot acted as a spy for the Sanhedrin. He accepted 30 silver sheets as payment for information that led to the betrayal of his master, Jesus. From the moment Judas agrees to pay for the information, he secretly begins to plot a plot against his leader and becomes a dishonest spy.
The legacy of Judah is a caveat that we all need to consider! He walked with our Savior, ate with him, and saw Jesus bring the dead back to life! He explained to his disciples about heaven and listened as he preached on the mountains. He knew Jesus, but his heart still cooled towards him.
None of us are exempt from the temptation to turn our backs on Jesus, abandon our souls for a little cash, surrender to sin in hoping to feel a little more critical in this life, and to desire superiority over eternity. Judas gives these temptations, and we are often prone to the same mistake.
Observing “Spying on Wednesday” takes a humble attitude of caution and remember that our sinful nature can lead us into dark places. Let us accept that we are not like Judas, but instead live in a repentant heart and seek to serve God rather than betray him.
The believers of Christ must live with the heart of love so that our Savior remains faithful to him. When we forgive bitterness, envy, distrust, greed, lies to overtake our thoughts, we become the enemy of Christ. Spirit fruits must define our lives, or we must be able to fall from the narrow path (Galatians 5:22-23).
Judas was caught up in what he could gain from this present body. His eyes will deceive him, and wealth will bring him more joy than heaven. What a tragic miscalculation he made! But how often do you make the same mistake? Choose comfort, entertainment, wealth and more in your kingdom life! Temptation is real. We must live constantly in the light. Otherwise, darkness can quickly creep up.
Following Christ requires deliberate dependence on the Holy Spirit. Because we live in a world of evil and chaos. If even the hints of immorality enter our lives, we can easily turn it back into darkness. To remain faithful to God, you need God’s power every day at work!
Considering the Easter message, remember that God can die and we can live. We win over Jesus, but we must constantly choose him to remain faithful to His call. Judas reminds us that sin is prolific and can quickly distant us from the life we can use through Christ.
Let’s pray:
Thank you, God, for the wisdom displayed in the Bible. We can learn a lot from the people you read in your book. Observing the spy on Wednesday calms the mind that reality is really narrow the path to heaven. Even those who walked with you felt the pull of pride, greed, deceit, sin. Let us be careful of daily temptations and live with wisdom. Does your Holy Spirit empower us to live a faithful life every day? Let us get closer to you, and we will never betray you. Amen.
