Prayer to invest in your own spiritual growth
By Keri Eichberger
Bible Reading:
And let’s persevere and run the race marked for us. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
Read or listen to the following:
Every year I want to grow through faith. Frankly, it seems to be getting more difficult each year, and I know better about my need for increased trust in God. And while my Bible study woman could literally become my mother, this morning, when I called out to her repeated struggles, “That’s life,” she reminded me of her sweet smile of wisdom. And perhaps even a little selfish, to avoid any additional discomfort, I strive to constantly grow spiritually and handle the better blows to ensure that I continue to come. Listen, I’m long enough to know, and I’ve experienced first-hand enough to live this truth. By grasping God’s unconditional love and understanding his omnipotent control and care, which monitors every aspect of our lives, tough days are much easier to manage.
what about you? Do you want to strengthen your faith too? I feel you would definitely do that. You deal with some tough things, know more, and love the confidence that your trust in God is so grand, so the fear and uncertainty of the future holds you small. I certainly feel this. And how did I ask myself? How can I see that I have my mighty dependency without thinking of God, seeking him first, and leaning violently against him without regressing? Of course, if someone asks for my advice, I suggest that I first increase the time to pray, read and remember more Bibles, meet regularly with other followers to study the Bible, and share my life. But what if you are religiously checking all these boxes, but still want to grow in a way that will lead to strengthening your faith?
I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently. The good news is that I think there is a solid answer. For those of us who want to speed up results, perhaps the big news is that it’s not an easy fix. Yes, like most traits that are of great value, it requires time, patience and patience. This is my answer to our increased growth…
Stay faithful.
Invest mainly. But stay faithful. Pray, praise, read, and continue to know him. Continue to live your life faithfully with him by your side. Continue running through the race of faith with your eyes fixed in Jesus. Jesus, our Savior, our Initiator, Pioneer, and our Perfector of Faith. Who will increase and strengthen our faith? Stay faithful, surrender to him, put faith in him, and see his face shine through every struggle, and realize that he is always loving, mentoring, guiding, and showing, and stay faithful, knowing that our faith will look back at the fresh foundations for growth. It’s a process. I have a son who is craving respectful wisdom and growth. And I keep reminding him that it is a process. It’s hard earning, but it’s worth the process. It reminds him that when we continue to live and devote ourselves with the Lord, wisdom is gathered and growth is established.
Friends, continue to invest your time, attention and resources in him, as his holy words instruct. Continue the course. Stay faithful. It pays off. He respects your submission. He will strengthen you and help you. Because he has repeatedly promised, he is always faithful.
Let’s pray:
Faithful God, you were so good to me. I want nothing more than to put all my faith and trust on you more and more in every area of my life. But sometimes I’m short of it. When life gets tougher, my faith can feel like a yo-yo. I hug you and let it go over and over again. I know you are sovereign and you are very good. And putting my full trust in you is where I struggle to find peace and joy. I want to trust you more. Please help me to be encouraged. I know that you are perfecting my faith from the next prayer, to a prayer, to a praise, to the next act of service. I am very grateful for your help, for your strength, for boosting my confidence in your love and good control. You are so loyal and I will praise you forever. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
