Prayers to master your money well

Bible Reading:
“The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fulfillment, the world, and those who live there.” – Psalm 24:1 nkjv
“And you will remember your God in the Lord, for it is he who will give you the power to gain wealth, and he may establish his covenant that he has sworn to your father.” – Deuteronomy 8:18 NKJV

You’d think that after so many job changes, years of freelance and letting go, I trusted my finances under the Pat, but I am a human and I manage the funds the Lord has given me.
Just this morning I was looking at the credit card statement. It was higher than usual as I had to pay for four new tires and TPMS. But the flesh always wants to be against the spirit (Galatians 5:17). I had just paid, so I wanted to make sure the invoice was paid first. As soon as I paid I remembered that I should have done tith first.
Throughout the Bible, it speaks of giving God our “first fruit.” So we have to give him first and then pay for everything else. When I do it I never felt the strap, but when it’s not broken I panicking about whether I have enough. I couldn’t change my order, but I did tits after that.
Tithing is a constant heart check. It becomes clear at the moment our minds lie down. If it is struggling to give, our love is elsewhere. Whenever we can spend our funds right away, that’s where our love is. Matthew 6:21 says, “Where will your treasure be there, and your heart will be there.”
God doesn’t need our money. He owns a cow on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10). But God loves us too much and cannot allow us to be bound by money and pursuit of things that cannot last. Spend your money this week and be aware of where your money is heading. It may go to a good place, such as your family, church. But that’s not to go to God first. Those good things may be your idol.
Our hearts tend to leave the God we love, and we tend to love. May our treasures be in God, and in building God’s kingdom, not ourselves.
Let’s pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being a manufacturer of heaven and earth. Thank you for being rich and not rare, you are a rich God. Everything we have is from you. Lord, help us live with open hands and obedient hearts. Help you make each financial decision with your kingdom in mind. Help us survive Clergy 3:12. It says, “I know there is nothing better for them than being happy for them and doing good things in their lives.” Lord, help our lives reflect your goodness and generosity towards us. May people see our good works, and they praise you in heaven (Matthew 5:16). Lord, we are short on a daily basis. Be careful of the encouragement of your mind when we rely on you and we manage your money.
I ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen!
