Thank you prayer on a warm, sunny day
Chelsey dematteis

Bible Reading:
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above declares his handiwork.” – Psalm sal 19:1

Listen or read:

Living in Ohio, you don’t know what you’ll wake up to. I’ve recently heard statistics that 57% of our days are sunny, although I’m grateful at the time. It also brought about the obvious truth that 43% of our daily lives are not marked by sunlight. And so I realized that waking up to the sun is a gift of grace. We hope we have seen the perfect sunny day of 95, but we will be delighted with a little extra enthusiasm for the bright days he has given us.

The truth is said, the older I get, the more I enjoy little things, and those little things are actually very important. The sunlight is one of them. We’re used to watching the morning sunrise and we’ve set it for the night, so we forget how great this is. Both morning and evening reveal the beautiful work of God’s hand and the gifts he gives us.

One of my favourite memories of when he began to connect sentences as a toddler was when we walked outside and saw the sun. He will say, “Jesus, thank you for this beautiful day.” Not only was it precious to hear, I also didn’t realize that God had instilled in him the basic practices that He had given thanks to the beauty of His creation and pondered the new mercy He has for us every day.

It is hard to believe that the sun and the warmth it brings were created not only to illuminate the world and show the glory of God, but also to evoke the sense of mercy that dances across our faces. As you know, think with me. Why are we pessimistic, but why are we a little better on sunny days? It’s difficult to put the answer into words, right? But I think your answer is like me. “The sunlight makes everything better. It brings joy and brings rest.”

When David wrote the words in Psalm 19:1, it reflects the truth we know from the time God made the light exist. He called the light good and separated it from the darkness. God insisted on making the light a marker of who he is and how much he loves us. It is no wonder we are drawn to it and are drawn to it to sit and rejoice in the physical presence of the warm light he created.

When you want the warm sun to come, or to please that beauty around you, don’t forget to praise God. Looking back at these Bibles, I pray to the Lord with gratitude.

Again Jesus spoke to them, “I am the light of the world; whoever follows me will not walk in the dark, but the light of life.” – John 8:12 Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. – John 1:5 years’ words are lamps to my feet, light to my path. -Psal sal 119:105 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, and you may declare his excellence that has summoned you from the darkness in his amazing light. -1 Peter 2:9 Heaven declares the glory of God, and the sky above declares his handiwork. – Psalm sal 19:1 gives the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in our hearts, facing Jesus Christ, for God, who said, “Let the light shine out of the darkness.” -2 Corinthians 4:6

Rejoice the Lord, seek His face, rejoice in the beauty of His creation, so that it will take you to a place of rest.

Let’s pray:

Thank you, Father, for a gift for a warm, sunny day. It is an incredible blessing to feel the warmth and recovery of your creation dance across my skin. I pray that they will become followers who praise you for what appears to be small despite their bigness. The sunrise and sunset each may be an invitation to my heart to say “thank you.” Give me the opportunity to be a ship for your kingdom, sharing the light of Jesus and pouring the good news you have shared with me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
