3 Emergency prayers for Texas communities affected by flash floods
By liz auld

Bible Reading:
“The Lord will save the servant; no one will be condemned to him.” – Psalm 34:22

If you’ve seen and read the devastating news of the devastating flash floods of the Guadalupe River in southern Texas, you’re sure you’ve seen the floods of the Guadalupe River in central Texas that took place the morning of July 4th. What was usually a day of celebration and fun for the community was rushed and carried over to debris-filled water and horrifying uncertainty. News reports show that at least 82 people (68 from Kerr County and 68 children) have been confirmed to be deceased, with at least 41 still missing. The deceased and part of the missing were young girls from Camp Mystic, a Christian camp that had been around since 1926. Ten campers and Camp Mystic counselors are still being searched (there were 750 children in the camp at the time of the flood).

As a mother, my heart breaks because of the parents whose daughter has passed away and because they still don’t know where their children and children are at this time. You can’t imagine the insecurities of their hearts and minds while they search for their loved ones and wait for words from others they are looking for. May they know that they are not alone in this time of destruction and devastation, and that many people pray for them.

What can we do now? We can participate or support ground agencies and organizations that support search and rescue efforts, as well as cleanup and recovery efforts. We can pray for all the hearts of sadness that lost a loved one too soon in this world, pray for the rest of the lost to be miraculously discovered, their families can find comfort in the meeting. Join me today in praying for these communities so they hope and sad. Today, here are three urgent prayers that you can pray for those affected by the floods in Texas:

Prayer for first responders, ground teams and pilots

Lord, we thank all the first responders, helicopter pilots, ground team members, medical team members, government workers, aid organizations, media team members, and everyday citizens who have helped out since this devastation first happened just a few days ago. We all know that there is little sleep and pure adrenaline continues. They themselves need recovery in desperation. The Holy Spirit We pray that you will keep their eyes open, keep their hearts open, stabilize their hands, and ensure their voices are prayed as they call instructions and reports.

They navigate debris-filled floods by cars, trucks and foot, keeping all ground team members safe. Help them find someone who is still missing who can get injured or get hurt so that they can move as safely as possible and as safe as possible. When they call out to each other and call out the survivors, make sure their voices are not loudly trained. Move anything that gets in the way so that it doesn’t get in the way. Clean the roads for them and help them find new paths when normal methods are blocked. Pray helicopter pilots fly safely when they are searching for survivors who are clinging to any object. Keep your gas stores from running out of use up quickly and continue to energize them to move as quickly as possible with the survivors.

We pray for the doctors and medical team awaiting the injured survivors. Help quickly know what the first step for each patient, led through the door, should be, so that as many of the best life-saving care can be given as possible. We pray for a quick recovery and rest for all. We appreciate supporting government agents and workers, organisations that have already arrived, and for our media teams report the latest news, keeping our communities as safe as possible, and for us to wait and wonder how we can pray and help. We would like to thank the Coast Guard for the assistance of the rescue mission. I pray for their safety as they try to save many other people. Thank you to all the helpers that can do as much as possible each day. We know they’re exhausted. Jesus, give them the power and ability to continue their search. Jesus, we praise you. Amen.

A miraculous prayer to the god to save someone who is still missing

Lord, you know where all undescribed people are in this moment. We pray that you will move the shards, pull the floods back, clarify the paths for the search and rescue team, and clarify the paths so that the missing persons are found. We pray that as many people as possible are alive and can be taken to hospitals to recover. While you wait for them to be discovered, protect the spirits of those who have gone missing, maintain the spirits of those searching, and do not tire them out of the horrifying reality they are in themselves. Above all, we pray for a miracle. You are the miracle God and you can unite the people you want and the people who are missing. The Lord approaches the families of those waiting for the news. Give them unwavering peace and comfort when they are waiting and wondering with uncertain minds. You are always close and never far away. I appreciate your loving presence in good times and bad times. Thank you for everything you saved and everything you brought home in the safety of your arms. We pray that all who are missing are rescued and saved. In your name, yes, amen.

Prayer for a family who has lost a loved one

Lord, we pray for the families of all the victims of the flood who lost their lives. Many of them lost their lives trying to save others. Give family, friends, and the pockets of comfort and peace for family, friends and the wider Kerr County community, in the midst of this heavy reality where they live. We pray that these families will only approach you during this intense sorrow and Jesus that follows. Help them know that you are with them in their pain and sadness. Jesus, you have made it possible for those who believe and accept your graceful gifts, as the Savior of the World, to put your graceful gifts in eternity. I am grateful that all the lifeless believers are with you in heaven, free from pain and suffering, and rejoice in front of you. Holy Spirit, we pray for those who grieved to hold your new mercy quickly every morning, and to hold them firmly in the dark times of the night when hopeless thoughts sink. Fill their hearts with light and love, and heal deep cracked wounds very easily.

Jesus, we pray especially for Hannah, Peck, Bonner, Smagistra, Hunt, Marsh, McCunn, Stevens, Childress, and Harbor families who lost young girls in the rising flood. I also pray for my grandparents in Harbor, who are still missing. We pray for the family of Dick Eastland, Director of Camp Mystic. I appreciate the courage to save as many young campers as possible before losing their lives in this world. We pray for the family of Jane Rugsdale, director of Heart O’ the Hills Camp, who lost her life. Thank you for the Hills Camp being between sessions. We pray for the Ryan family, who lost their beloved son, husband and father when they died to save their wife, children and mother. We pray for the Ease’s family, who lost their beloved mother/grandmother, and for the Zanker family, who lost their beloved teacher, coach and his wife. We hope that they may soon find that their two children have not yet been described. May these families feel comforted in giving up your broken heart. Give them peace in these dark times of sorrow. We pray to God who sees all our hearts and saves the lost, amen.

Finally, Lord, we pray that the Texas Hill Country community will gather despite the devastation everywhere they see. During this dark time you are grateful that family, friends and rescuers are illuminating the beacon of hope for them to cling to. Help them stay encouraged despite their slow recovery. We pray that these communities will merely increase strength and love during rebuilding.

Today, let’s go out into the world with more love in our hearts, more kindness in our words, and humility in our actions.
