Prayer for peace when the world feels chaotic
By Keri Eichberger
Bible Reading:
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, noble, anything right, anything pure, anything pure, anything pure, something nice, something worthy of praise, anything great or praiseworthy, anything you learn, receive or hear from me. And the God of Peace will be with you. ” – Philippians 4:8-9
Listen or read:
Lately, it’s as suddenly as outside my bedroom door, scrolling through social media for seconds, messing up my TV channels, slap my face at the reality of the chaos in my world. Sometimes I want to take 180 turns, close the door, turn it on from my phone, and hide the remote from every TV in my house. I am also tempted to quickly step into the confusion, which opens the door to consumption of my mind, body and soul. But honestly, I don’t think either option is always practical or ideal. I cannot hide forever, and I am not healthy to be completely immersed in the type of wild that suffocates all peace from my soul. All I need is to find a way to have peace with me, regardless of the setting or circumstances.
Do you feel the confusion in your head, your home, or the entire world? Understood. It’s really everywhere. And if your surroundings are now wonderful and calm, you can resort to the inevitable changes in the tide, along with the reinforced waves ready to crash and slash above you. The world is busy, there is always a kind of confusion, and there is no evil anywhere on this side of heaven. Therefore, the best thing you can do to prepare for the negative effects of these truths is to determine the defense and crime against it. Simply put, this is: We need Jesus. We need his presence and protection, and desperately need his peace. And the great news that I want to remind us is that he will teach us how to find that peace in his trustworthy words.
In the book of Philippians, Paul encourages Jesus’ followers, me and you to think about these things. He goes on and puts it into practice if you have learned, received, heard, or seen from me. And the God of peace is with you. And isn’t this what we long for in a world filled with merciless chaos and mess? God’s fulfilling peace?
I know how hard it is to avoid the loud noises of the world around you: busyness, distractions, and the fast pace of modern society. But we must not forget to place our eyes and hearts on Jesus at every dawn. And to keep our gaze in his way.
Friends, please respect him. Fill him as you begin to see life through his lens and begin to focus on the wild waves of the world. Focused on his peaceful promises – pinned to the truth of his comforting, his lovely work, his honorable gifts, and his excellent admiration. Putting your heart in Jesus will fill your soul and vision and will keep your eyes on the confusion and swelling of your spirit with God’s peace that will take over your vision.
Let’s pray:
Heavenly Father, you are the God of peace, and I need to promise your peaceful existence and every moment of your daily life. In this world, it seems that there are mixed chaos wherever I go. Anxiety that threatens to draw me to places where I consume and feel peace is unreachable. But please help me to turn my eyes to you. Correct my thoughts as you directed in your words, about what is true, noble, righteous, pure, nice, fine, respectable, excellent, admirable. Lord, I will place my heart on You, Your promises, and Your goodness, and I can carry peace with me through any amount of trials and confusion. And this is a very beautiful blessing. I always be by my side and praise my peace.
Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
