When American children need them, Congressional Democrats are missing in action, First Lady Melania Trump said Monday.
On her first visit to Capitol Hill in her husband’s second term, she attended a roundtable to promote The Take It Down Act, sponsored by Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Democrat Sen. Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota.
According to Fox News, the bill has already been passed unanimously in the Senate.
The law makes it a federal crime to publish or threaten intimate images online that the subject doesn’t want to post, including “digital counterfeiting” created by artificial intelligence.

“To prioritize this fundamental issue, I kept in mind knowing that Senators Cruz and Senator Klobuchar are United. But I have to admit that we will see more Democratic leaders here today along with us to address this serious issue. Certainly, as adults, we can prioritize American children ahead of partisan politics,” she said in a video posted to X.

“Dealing with this issue is essential to promoting a safe and supportive environment for our youth,” she continued. “I hope today’s roundtable will build an intimate image of disagreement and acknowledgement of the harm caused by the approval of the Takedown Act in Congress.”
“In today’s AI-driven world, the threat of privacy invasion is surprisingly high,” she said.

“As organizations leverage the power of our data, the risk of unauthorized access and the risk of misuse of personal information escalates. We need to prioritize robust security measures and support strict ethical standards to protect individual privacy,” she said.
“As a first lady, my commitment to the Be Best initiative underscores the importance of online safety. In a time when digital interaction is essential to everyday life, protecting children from sleazy and harmful online behavior is essential,” she said.

According to the “Daily Mail,” Ellistonbury, one of such children affected by AI Deepfark, said she was a victim when she was 14 years old.
“To come here today and not only promote this bill, but to fight for many survivors,” said the 15-year-old.
“It’s so exciting to know that I can hear my voice and gives hope not only for me, but for many people affected by this. It’s really amazing how this terrible situation has improved,” she said.
Cruz said his office was involved in the incident.
“Elliston’s mom said she called Snapchat, she emailed them and tried this trash from her daughter repeatedly.
“Sitting senators and congressional seat members should not pick up phones and take photos or down videos. It should be the right of every American of every teenage girl who has been victimized, and they should have the right to remove this trash, and this bill gives them that as a matter of federal law,” he said.
Berry and her parents will sit with Melania Trump tonight when President Donald Trump addresses a joint Congressional session.
