While taking part in the podcast last December, president of BYU-IDAHO Alvin F. Meredith III spoke about a conversation with the parents of students who commented, “Byu-Idaho is a truly hidden gem.” .
On the podcast, President Meredith said: We were really intentional about talking about BYU-Idaho. ”
Over the past 16 months, the University and President Meredith have shared the BYU-IDAHO story in a variety of unique ways, which has made an impact. This past fall, the school welcomed the largest lesson in the school’s history.
Furthermore, compared to this time last year, there was an increase in over 2,000 students who accepted the offer.
“The exciting growth is a product of a growing understanding across (Latter-day Saints’ Church of Jesus Christ) of how pronounced BYU – IDAHO education is,” President Meredith told Church News at the time.
BYU – Let’s take a look at some of the ways Idaho is working to raise awareness and “enable BYU-IDAHO education to more young people in the church” (Kim B. Clark, “First Reaction,” Byu-Idaho Basic Address, October 11, 2005).
Affordable price changes
President Meredith has repeatedly said that BYU-IDAHO education is highly valuable. This means that students can expect high quality education at a lower cost. (BYU – IDAHO is about half the tuition fees at other state schools.)
Recently, schools have introduced more changes to reduce cost barriers for students and future students.
In January 2024, BYU – Idaho announced that it would remove its $35 application fee.
“By eliminating this cost barrier, the university hopes that more students will have the opportunity to apply to universities that develop as disciples of Jesus Christ, the school said.

In 2024, the school also introduced a one-time $1,000 rebolized missionary scholarship, encouraging recently returned missionaries to pursue higher education at BYU-Idaho.
The scholarship website states that all missionaries (humanitarian, humanitarian, acting, or services) can receive the scholarship and that the length of missionary services does not affect eligibility.
Starting in Fall 2024, BYU-Idaho began awarding automatic merit scholarships to freshmen and transfer students. For those who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 BYU – Idaho, the scholarship will be renewed for up to four years.
Both freshmen and forwarding students may qualify for full, half- or quarter scholarships.
Why byui?
In October, the school published social media assignments, sharing stories with students, alumni and employees, and posting to explain why he loves BYU -Idaho.
In a post on October 25, 2024, President Meredith said, “You’re our reason! Sister Meredith and I cherished every moment here at Byu-Idaho.”
One student posted on Instagram that she came to BYU-IDAHO on a whim in her room with her beloved mission companion. “But I stayed at BYU – IDAHO because I am a loving campus of the Savior. I can feel it from most classrooms, almost every professor, faculty and even other students. ” she writes.
At the end of the social media campaign, President Meredith thanked the students for joining us. In a social media post on October 30th, she reported, “Thanks to your enthusiasm and participation, the hashtag #Whybyui has reached over a million views in just one week!”
Prayer and podcasts
Last year, President Meredith joined several podcasts, highlighting how he has made BYU-IDAHO “remarkable.”
On the leading Saints podcast on June 29, 2024, President Meredith shared insights on his approach to leadership, including the university’s president.
Following John Beiseway and Hank Smith on December 18, 2024 In an episode of his podcast, the president and sister Meredith share their love for this new mission while providing insights from the Book of Mormon I did.
And episode 224 of the Church News Podcast, held on January 21st this year, explains how BYU – Idaho must remain a Christ-centric, prophetic university.
President Meredith also participated in a series of prayers with other church education leaders, to join church education leaders for university students and their families, both the importance of education and the strengths and benefits of each institution. It emphasizes.
“BYU-IDAHO is uniquely set up to provide education that helps people grow in their disciples and prepare for the real world. What’s great is that it is with teachers they know by name. “We can do all this to you. Our students, our graduates, are full of the light of Christ and are trying to influence the good that those around us,” President Meredith said. He told the church news.
