Pray that God will bring holy people into the lives of your children
By Kelly Ballery
Bible Reading: “Those who walk with the wise will become wise, but the fellow fools will do harm.” – Proverb 13:20 ESV
Read or listen to the following:
I knew that the woman sitting in front of me had deep wisdom within her. She raised some amazing children. She was years ahead of me so I knew there was something I could learn.
I was going to collect from her, and I asked, “What is your best mother’s wisdom?”
She replied, “What I’ve always done for my children is pray.”
Soon I knew this woman would hammer a nail into her head. The best thing we can do for our children is to pray for them. It’s more of a prayer than a word of advice that might fall into your deaf ear. God’s help is better than the mother’s best attempt to help a child in need. It’s better to reveal the truth to your child than to say it over and over again.
This woman was paying my attention.
She said, “What I always pray for my children is that God is to keep people consistently bringing them closer and closer to Jesus.”
Her prayer hit the mark. After she said it, I could imagine the impact on my child’s life if I started praying for it… For example, when my children go to a new school, God says they You may bring friends with passion around mostly around. When they go to college, their roommates may be people who love the Lord wholeheartedly. When they enter the workforce, colleagues may invite them to study the Bible. When they find their spouse, they may meet someone full of the accomplishments of the Holy Spirit. All these people bring closer to knowing and loving God.
What a wonderful, shocking prayer.
Proverbs 13:20 says, “Those who walk with the wise will be wise, but the fellow fools will do harm.”
Obviously, our kids will become like the company they keep, so we have to pray for the company that continues to come around them.
I have prayed for their spouses for years, but I have not thought of praying that God would bring people after them and encourage them in the way of the Lord. When we pray for our children’s friends, their acquaintances, and everyone who comes along our path, we help to open a straight path for our children.
If our children sent respectful people with the right words and the right words to help God return to his path, then when our children began to go out the truck And isn’t that surprising? Let’s pray for that!
Our prayers for our children are powerful and shocking!
Let’s pray
Father, I ask you to bring people into my children’s lives. Similarly, I ask you to protect those who separate them from you. May they grow and mature constantly as they have relationships with others. May they hunger and thirst your righteousness in every day of their life. If they begin to move away from the trajectory of the Lord, let them meet those whom they have respectful advice. With the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
