Prayer to overcome paralyzing fear
By Vivian Bricker
Bible reading today: “So, don’t be afraid because I am with you. I am your God, so don’t be disappointed. I will strengthen you and help you. I will me. I will support you with the right right hand of “- Isaiah 41:10
Read or listen to the following:
Fear is something I am not a stranger. Because I suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), I tend to struggle to paralyze my fears every day. “Have I washed my hands enough? Are I going to get sick? Am I going to get sick to someone else?” All of these fears plunge into my head thousands of times every day.
Worrying about getting sick has become a common concern for most people in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. Hand sanitizer is still being handed over, but masking is still necessary in some doctors’ offices, and we can never be careful about anyone who has revealed symptoms of the illness.
The sad reality is that there is no chance we will be able to escape fear. My OCD latches bacteria and scares me to get sick. Even if you tell yourself you won’t get sick many times, it’s not true. I get sick at some point in my life, like everyone else. There is no magic ritual I can do to save myself from getting sick again.
We cannot endure fear, but there are things we can do to prevent it from getting too strong. For example, you may be afraid of getting sick. If this is true, try giving God these worries and fears. He is the only person who can truly protect us from illness and illness (Ps. sal 91:1-3).
Each of us has our own paralysis fears, but we must overcome them with the help of God. If fear allows us to control, we will soon become feared slaves. Jesus has already set us free, so there is no more reason to be bound by slavery (Galatians 5:1). The freedom we have primarily allows us to overcome our fears.
The Bible tells us. Don’t be disappointed because I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will keep you with my right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). As God tells us in this passage, we need not be afraid or disappointed because he is with us and He is our God. He strengthens us, helps us, and protects us with his right right hand.
Whatever our fears are, God is still stronger and more powerful than any situation. Choose to give God all your fears today. He will support you and empower you. We still run into horrifying situations, but we no longer need to be stressed, worried or worried about these pressing situations. Instead, we can walk with confidence knowing that God is with us. He will never make us face our fears alone.
Let’s pray:
Dear God, help me overcome the paralyzing fears of my life. Each fear I have feels as if it can consume me completely. Remember that you will be with me and protect me. I trust you with each of my fears. Don’t leave me to face my fears alone. In the name of Jesus, I pray, amen.
